When my son was a baby, I decide to take on the task of making the majority of his baby food. One the first foods I learned to make was Applesauce. After I finished the first batch, I was amazed by how easy it was to make. Not mention it tastes delicious and today my toddler still loves it. Today I’m going to show you, how you can make Applesauce.
Here’s What You’ll Need:
8 Variety Apples (I used Red Delicious, Gala, and Green Apples. Try not to use a lot of tart apples. They take longer to cook and aren’t as sweet.)
1/2 or 1 Teaspoon of Cinnamon (optional)
1 Cup of Water
Apple Peeler, Corer, and Slicer or a Peeler and Knife
1 Large Pot w/ Lid
Potato Masher or Blender
If you’re using an Apple Peeler, Corer and Slicer, place the apple where the tongs are and turn the handle. When your apple has been peeled,cored, and sliced place the slices in the large pot.
If you don’t have one of those that’s okay, grab your peeler and start peeling apples. Next grab your kitchen knife and cut around the core. Then take the 4 pieces and cut them into small chunks. The smaller you cut them the faster they’ll cook.
When you’ve placed all of the apple slices or chunks in the pot add the water and cinnamon. (If you want you can add a half cup of sugar to the pot as well) Give the applesauce mixture a good stir and place it on the stove on high heat until it comes to a hard boil. Once it comes to hard boil turn your heat down to Medium/Low. Then allow your apples to simmer for 20-30 minutes, stirring periodically. The apples will become soft.
After the apple mixture is finished cooking take your potato masher and mash it up. If you like your applesauce really smooth, scoop the applesauce mixture into blender and blend until it’s smooth.
