Hot Chocolate Mix

I know it’s only Mid-November  but I’m already in the Christmas spirit. I’m ready to pick out the tree and hang some lights, the whole sha-bang. This year I decided to take a cue from my Mother-in-law and be more neighborly.

My in-laws are the type of people that when you are at their house, they are constantly trying to feed you. You will not go hungry if you’re in  their house. They live out of state and every time we visit them, I gain weight. Ha. Not to mention, my mother-in-law sends us a ton of homemade candy every Christmas. A few years ago we spent the holidays with them. On Christmas Eve, we all loaded up in my Father-in-law’s truck, drove around the neighborhood and stopped at each house. My Mother-in-Law would get out and hand deliver homemade candy to her neighbors. This was so inspiring and genuinely kind.

I’ve thought about doing something for my neighbors, since I witnessed my Mother-in-laws act of kindness. However, I’ve never actually gotten around to doing it until now. I decided that this year I would make something to give my neighbors. Today I’m going to show you how to make Hot Chocolate Mix. It’s really simple and will put you in the Christmas Mood.IMG_9748

Here’s what you’ll need:

3.2 Cups of Nonfat Dry Milk

2 Cups of Powder NonDairy Creamer

1 8oz Container of Cocoa Powder, Sifted

2 Cups of Powder Sugar

2 Cups of Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips, Chopped

4 Medium Size Decorative Covered Containers

First you’ll want to wash out your containers and set them aside. Next, in an extra large bowl combine the dry milk, nondairy creamer, sifted cocoa powder, powder sugar and chopped chocolate chips. (As an alternative or an addition to chocolate chips, you can use crushed peppermint and/or tiny marshmallows) IMG_9752

Stir until it’s completely mixed and put it in the tightly covered containers. You can make it as simple or as decorative (I bought my containers from Dollar Tree)IMG_9763

The Hot Chocolate Mix is good for up to 3 months. Add a tag saying: For one serving place 1/2 cup of mix in a mug and add 1/2 cup of boiling water or warm milk. Enjoy!!! IMG_9764
